EYE BANK COORDINATION AND RESEARCH CENTRE (EBCRC)
Restoring Vision. Transforming Lives.
Darkness can take away sight, but the gift of vision can restore an entire world. For a person living with corneal blindness, the ability to see a loved one, recognise a face, or witness life’s simple moments again is truly priceless. Eye donation is not just a medical act — it is the gift of hope, dignity, independence, and a new beginning.
Established in March 1995, Eye Bank Coordination and Research Centre (EBCRC) was founded with a mission to eliminate corneal blindness and bring international eye banking standards to India. With the encouragement and support of the International Federation of Eye Banks (IFEB), Baltimore, USA, EBCRC emerged as one of the pioneering institutions that transformed eye banking practices in the country. Today, the Centre proudly upholds globally accepted quality standards and is a respected member of the Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI).
Over the last three decades, EBCRC has grown into one of India’s leading community eye banks and a recognised model for excellence in the Asia-Pacific region. Combining advanced technology, scientific protocols, ethical practices, and compassionate service, the Centre continues to play a vital role in restoring sight and improving lives.

The organisation operates 24×7, 365 days a year, responding to eye donation calls and coordinating timely tissue retrieval and distribution across Mumbai, Maharashtra, and beyond.
