+ TARUN MITRA MANDAL
Tarun Mitra Mandal which has been recognized as longest human chain of the world by International Federation of Tissue and Eye Banks, Baltimore USA, has completed 18 years of the Yuvraj Eye Donation Movement. The Eye Donation activity was launched on 15th August 1997 with a Slogan “Blindness Quit India”. During its operation of 18 years office existence more than 14000 eye balls have been collected and deposited at EBCRC-Mumbai.
+ ARPAN EYE BANK
Arpan Eye Bank was established in 1987 by few philanthropic and social minded citizens of Ghatkopar. It is working under ‘Arpan Trust’. It was the first of its kind stand alone (not attached to any hospital or nursing home) eye bank at that time and our founder trustee had to take lots of pain and follow up to convince Government authority to grant us the license for enucleation activities.
Arpan Eye Bank is affiliated with the Eye Bank Coordination and Research Centre, (EBCRC) Parel from the inception.
In spite of working only in the geographical area of one suburb viz Ghatkopar Arpan Eye Bank has collected record number of eye balls exceeding 10,000 and has been adjudged as “Numero Uno” in Mumbai by International Federation of Eye and Tissue Banks, Baltimore, USA. It is also ranked First in State of Maharashtra and has received ‘Prashasti Patra’ (Certificate of Appreciation) from NPCB, Maharashtra.
+ KANDIVALI EYE DONATION CENTER
Kandivali Eye Donation Centre was established at Kandivali in December, 2011. Shri Mulraj Kapadia is Founder member and Secretary of KEDC. Dr. Dilip Raichura is President of the said centre. The said centre was known as Netradan Jagruti Abhiyaan and they used to function under umbrella of Tarun Mitra Mandal. The said centre is a full fledged Eye Donation Centre, their team comprises of 32 coordinators and 9 doctors.
+ LATE SMT. SHAKUNDEVI MEHTA EYE BANK
Late Smt. Shakundevi Mehta Eye Bank was established at Bhandup on 7th May 2007. It was possible only due to the selfless and dedicated service rendered by Mr Paras Jain, Dhanpat Jain, Mithalal Mehta, Kantilal Mehta and other members of the Trust as also major financial help from Kantilal, Multanmulji Mehta.
During its operation of 8 years office existence more than 900 eye balls have been collected and deposited at EBCRC-Mumbai.
